CLEVELAND, Ohio - Everything is on the line in Mid-American Conference Football from the penthouse to the outhouse as mid-week football gets a full slate of action, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights. At the top of the chain, tonight, the Miami RedHawks (3-5, 3-1) get a serious road test at league-leading Buffalo (7-1, 4-0), 8 p.m. Miami can give its MAC East Division title hopes a boost with a road upset over the Bulls, who lead the division and are closing in on clinching the title. One more victory for UB would make the Bulls a hard team to catch down the stretch. At the opposite end of the chain, Kent State (1-7, 0-4) is at Bowling Green (1-7, 0-4), 8 p.m. ESPNU, where the loser of this game will quite likely end the season winless in MAC play. The Golden Flashes have struggled under first-year head coach Sean Lewis, while BG has already fired its head coach, Mike Jinks.

ESPNU, where the Bobcats and Broncos are contending for MAC East and MAC West division titles, respectively. Both are one game out of their division lead with head-to-head matchup still to play vs. Also Thursday, surprising Northern Illinois (5-3, 4-0) is at Akron (4-3, 2-2), 7 p.m. CBS SportsNet. The Zips are in the statistical hunt for a division title, but just as important coach Terry Bowden's team needs two more wins to become bowl eligible.

DEKALB, Ill. The Ball State gymnastics team fought until the last event against Mid-American Conference opponent Northern Illinois Sunday evening. Ball State scored its third highest season team total of 195.200, while Northern Illinois won the meet with a 195.375. The Cardinals are now 3-1 in the MAC. 'This week the team held together through adversity,' head coach said. 'We stayed in the meet until the last performance and performed well with new athletes in the lineups.' The Cardinals started the competition on bars.
They managed to score a team total of 48.950, which marks the season's second best total. Sophomore, swung into third place with a 9.850., and tied for fifth place scoring 9.800. On vault stood second place overall scoring a 9.800. In her vault debut, placed fifth with a 9.725.
Freshman tumbled into second place with a career high and record book entry score of 9.900. On beam Ball State lead off and freshman tied in third place overall with scores of 9.775. 'I am super excited about Tia's floor performance,' Saleem stated. 'The freshman has a bright future and I can't wait to see what she can do with the rest of her time as a Ball State Cardinal. We plan to get back into the gym and work on the details that we missed today in preparation for our last meet of the season inside Worthen.'
The Cardinals return to Worthen Arena Sunday, March 4 to compete against Eastern Michigan on Senior Day. The team will host Olympic Silver Medalist and NCAA Champion Samantha Peszek as the meet's special guest.
