After other tests to no avail I RMA'd it for an exchange cause I have never had any problems with any of my drives and figured it was a one time fail. Got my replacement drive and I first tried burning a movie and after two failures, attempted to watch a BR movie, and right away the movie started skipping. Tried a different movied and same thing. Tried drive in a different computer and still, it failed. Will RMA but no exchange this time (not for the same drive anyway).

I've used this LG unit to burn CD's and DVD's. Haven't burned a Blu-ray yet, but it reads them just fine.
Burned about 20 M-Disk DVD's and all worked just fine in four other readers that I have. I updated the firmware in the LG burner to the latest version listed on the M-Disk web site. Overall this seems like a great value, especially if it holds up for a while. It's very quiet, I have to look at the green LED to see if it's running. Rated 1 out of 5 by Yuge from Compatible is not the same as Kind of Compatible Caused long timeouts (observed as periodic hangs) on my PC with Intel DP35DP with RAID.
Stuck for 60 seconds at time trying to access the drive or eject the tray. Check for drive firmware updates - firmware on web site is two revisions older than the one on the drive. No support information available describing this problem. Swapped it out with an ASUS DVD drive from another PC which worked fine (so power, data and motherboard are fine).
Moved it to another PC and it worked there but it wasn't the one I bought it for. Seems like LG has a problem being fully compatible since other drives don't seem to have this problem. I would advise people to avoid this drive and save the agony. Next time I'll try another brand, I can't get these few hours of my life back.
